10 Stress-Free Tips to Plan Your Perfect Wedding Day!

Planning your wedding should be exciting — but let’s be real, once the spreadsheets, guest lists, suppliers and endless decisions start piling up, it can all feel a little overwhelming!

The good news? It really doesn’t have to be.

We’ve put together 10 of our favourite tips to help make planning your wedding a little easier, keep the stress levels down and, most importantly, make sure the day actually feels like you .

1. Start With a Realistic Budget

Before you start booking anything, sit down together and work out what you’re comfortable spending.

Include any contributions from family, what you’re planning to save yourselves and ideally leave around 10% aside for those little unexpected extras that always seem to pop up!

Having a budget from the beginning makes every other decision so much easier.

2. Decide What Really Matters to You

Pick three things that are really important to you both.

Maybe you absolutely love live music, want amazing food, or photography and video are right at the top of your list. Whatever they are, knowing your priorities helps you decide where you’re happy to spend a little more and where you can save.

And remember — they’re your priorities. They don’t have to be the same as anybody else’s.

3. Get a Rough Guest List Together

You definitely don’t need to know exactly who’s coming at this stage, but having a rough number before you start looking at venues is really helpful.

Your guest count affects everything from the size of the venue to catering costs, so having a realistic number can save you from falling in love with somewhere that’s either too small or way over budget.

4. Choose a Venue That Already Feels Like You

If you love how a venue looks without loads of decoration, you’re already onto a winner!

Choosing somewhere that naturally fits the style you want can save you a lot of money — and a lot of decorating.

It’s also worth asking exactly what’s included in the venue hire. Things like tables, chairs, staff and other little extras can soon add up if they aren’t included.

5. Keep Everything in One Place

Wedding planning involves a lot of emails, contracts, invoices, ideas and random screenshots!

Whether you use Google Drive, a wedding planning app or your own system, try to keep everything together and somewhere you can both access.

One little tip we really recommend is setting up a joint wedding email address . Use it for all your suppliers and wedding-related bookings and you’ll never have to ask, “Which email did they send that to again?”

6. Book the Important Suppliers Early

If there’s a photographer, videographer, band, florist or other supplier you absolutely love, don’t leave it too long to get in touch.

Popular suppliers can book dates well over a year in advance, especially during peak wedding season.

Booking earlier also gives you more time to spread the cost rather than everything suddenly becoming due at once.

7. Give Yourselves Plenty of Time for Outfits

Wedding dresses and made-to-measure suits can take longer than you might expect — sometimes six to nine months.

Then you’ll want to leave some extra time for fittings and alterations too.

Basically, this is one area where being too early is definitely better than suddenly realising you need something altered two weeks before the wedding!

8. Put Together a Wedding Day Timeline

You don’t need to plan every minute of the day, but having a rough timeline makes a massive difference.

Once it’s ready, share it with your wedding party, venue and suppliers so everyone knows roughly what’s happening and when.

The aim is simple: you shouldn’t be organising people on your wedding day.

That’s the day you get to enjoy everything you’ve spent all this time planning!

9. Don’t Forget What All This Is Actually About ❤️

It’s incredibly easy to get caught up worrying about table plans, flowers, napkin colours and whether Auntie Susan should be sitting next to Uncle Dave.

Every now and then, give yourselves a night where wedding talk is banned .

Go for dinner, grab a takeaway, watch a film — whatever you normally enjoy doing together. Wedding planning shouldn’t completely take over your relationship.

10. You Really Don’t Have to Please Everyone

This might be the most important one.

There will always be opinions. Family, friends, traditions, TikTok, Instagram… everyone seems to have an idea of what a wedding should look like.

But if something doesn’t make you happy, create a memory or mean something to you both, you don’t have to include it.

Trends will come and go. Nobody is going to remember whether your napkins perfectly matched your flowers.

They’ll remember the atmosphere, the laughs, the ridiculous dancing, the emotional moments and how happy you both looked.

So plan a wedding that feels authentically you .
